Demystifying the Bezel Setting

Have you ever wondered about the intricacies of jewelry settings? In the realm of precious stones and metals, the "bezel setting" stands out as a unique and secure style that has been gaining popularity in recent years. Whether you're a jewelry enthusiast or someone looking to embark on a bespoke design journey, understanding the charm and practicality of bezel settings is key. Let's unravel the mysteries behind this captivating jewelry setting!

What does bezel setting mean?

A bezel setting is a style of setting that completely surrounds the diamond or gemstone. The band overlaps the edges of the stone, leaving only the table and crown of the stone exposed from the top view.

Are bezel settings secure?

The bezel setting is the most secure type of setting. The reason is that the metal completely surrounds the stone ensuring that there is no movement of the stone so the diamond can’t come loose. If you are rough with your jewelry - the bezel setting is for you!

Are bezel rings trendy?

Bezel set engagement rings have been on the rise over the last 2 years and we expect the trend to continue. We are seeing bigger statement jewelry and more metal looks which is what the bezel setting is all about! This is a trend that we are all in on!

Are bezel settings more expensive?

Bezel settings tend to be slightly more expensive than the basic prong setting. This is due to the increase in the gold or platinum that is being used. At SETTE, we also have designed a half bezel to offer more of a middle ground for price. We can incorporate the half bezel in the same jewelry and engagement as a full bezel.

What diamonds look best with a bezel setting?

Any shape diamond looks amazing in a bezel setting. As far as quality, we would recommend going as high as possible in color so the warmth of a yellow bezel setting won’t impact the diamond brilliance.

What metal should my bezel setting be in?

To us, metal color is all about preference! We love a yellow gold bezel to show a great contrast between the diamond and the metal. If the bezel setting is on a yellow diamond, we recommend always setting in yellow gold to show off the color of the stone.

What type of jewelry can have bezel settings?

At SETTE, we incorporate the bezel setting into all types of jewelry, including, engagement rings, bracelets, wedding rings, earrings and even necklaces and pendants! Want to design a custom piece of jewelry with a bezel setting? Email us at customer@settejewelry.com.
